# Stripe agentic commerce: how to sell through AI agents with Stripe

What Stripe’s Agentic Commerce Suite, Shared Payment Tokens and Link agent wallet do, which AI channels they reach and what a business should check before selling through AI agents.

Short answer

Stripe agentic commerce lets a business sell through AI agents while keeping its existing Stripe payments. The Agentic Commerce Suite lets merchants upload a product catalogue and manage agent access from the Stripe Dashboard. Shared Payment Tokens let an agent pass a buyer’s payment method to the seller with limits on amount, currency and time. Availability varies by channel and country, so check what applies to your account before promising anything to customers.

## The pieces of Stripe’s agentic commerce offer

Stripe’s agentic commerce documentation covers both sides of an agent purchase: the seller receiving orders from agents, and agents paying on a buyer’s behalf. Stripe notes that availability, launch stage and supported countries vary by integration.

Stripe agentic commerce building blocks
| Component | What it does | Who uses it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Agentic Commerce Suite | Upload a product catalogue and manage which AI agents can sell it, from the Stripe Dashboard | Merchants |
| Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) | Open checkout specification developed by Stripe and OpenAI | Agents and sellers |
| Shared Payment Tokens | Give the seller scoped access to the buyer’s payment method for an agent-initiated purchase | Agents issue them; sellers charge them |
| Link agent wallet | Lets a person’s agent pay with Link, with approval of each payment | Buyers and their agents |
| UCP payment handler | Processes Universal Commerce Protocol checkouts through Stripe | Platforms using UCP |

## Agentic Commerce Suite: selling through AI agents

Stripe says merchants can sell through AI agents by uploading a product catalogue and managing agent access directly from the Dashboard. Its technical guide describes hosted ACP endpoints, catalogue upload either directly or from existing product syndicators, and checkout built on Stripe’s Checkout Sessions. The merchant keeps control of the customer relationship, including refunds and disputes.

Stripe has announced agentic commerce partnerships with OpenAI, Microsoft, Meta and Google. At Stripe Sessions 2026 it said buyers will soon be able to purchase in Google’s AI Mode and the Gemini app through the Universal Commerce Protocol. Stripe also previewed a version of the suite for platforms such as Wix, BigCommerce and WooCommerce, without a release date.

## Shared Payment Tokens: how the agent pays the seller

A Shared Payment Token grants the seller scoped access to a buyer’s payment method for a purchase the agent started. The agent issues the token with limits such as currency, maximum amount and expiry, and the seller uses it to create a payment as usual.

Stripe’s documentation lists Shared Payment Tokens as available to agents, customers and sellers in the US, Canada and selected European countries, including the UK. The seller terms and API examples are marked as preview, so check the current status before relying on it.

## Link: letting agents pay

On the buyer side, Stripe launched agent wallets powered by Link. A one-time-use card is issued for each task and the person approves each payment. Stripe has also said Meta’s Muse agent can pay with Link at participating businesses.

For a seller, this means some agent purchases arrive through ordinary online checkout rather than a dedicated integration. The checkout still has to work for software: clear required fields, unambiguous variants and errors an agent can understand.

## What to check before selling through AI agents with Stripe

Payment support is only one part of being chosen and bought from. Use this list to decide whether the suite is worth enabling now.

- Eligibility: confirm which agent channels and payment features are available for your country and account.
- Catalogue: make product names, variants, prices, stock and identifiers accurate before uploading them.
- Policies: publish clear delivery, returns and support terms that an agent can quote correctly.
- Checkout: test a full purchase of the right variant, including taxes, shipping and confirmation.
- Controls: decide which agents may sell your products and how refunds and disputes will be handled.
- Measurement: tag agent-led orders so you can compare them with other channels.
